ذهب ذوو المواطنة (خ، س) إلى تحميل مستشفى الملك فهد المركزي في جازان مسؤولية وفاة قريبتهم التي كانت منومة في قسم العناية الفائقة في المستشفى، إثر توقف أجهزة التنفس الاصطناعي بسبب انقطاع الكهرباء الذي استمر قرابة عشر دقائق.

وأشار لـ «عكاظ» ذوو المريضة المتوفاة، في اتهامهم إلى مسؤولي المستشفى ومتعهد الصيانة والتشغيل، مدعين أن المولدات الاحتياطية لم تعمل بشكل تلقائي، عادين ذلك تقصيرا وإهمالا في حياة المرضى المنومين في قسم العناية المركزة، الذين تتوقف حياتهم على التنفس الاصطناعي، موضحين أن المريضة كانت تعاني من التهابات حادة أدخلت على إثرها العناية الفائقة، وظلت تعيش على جهاز التنفس الاصطناعي، إلا أنها توفيت بسبب الإهمال نظرا لانقطاع التيار إثر خلل فني مفاجئ في أجهزة الكهرباء، ولم تعمل المولدات الاحتياطية بشكل مباشر وقت حدوث الانقطاع ما عجل بإنهاء حياتها.

من جهته، نفى مدير الشؤون الصحية في جازان الدكتور محسن طبيقي، أن يكون انقطاع التيار الكهربائي سبب وفاة المريضة، مشيرا إلى أنه في انتظار تقرير عن وفاة المريضة لتحديد أسباب الوفاة.

Extreme obesity affects every organ system and causes significant
chronic medical co-morbidities. Most of the associated
conditions are reversible following sustained weight
loss. In 1991 the United States’ National Institutes of Health
Consensus Development Conference Panel recommended
weight reduction (bariatric) surgery for patients with extreme
obesity that cannot lose weight by diet and exercise
alone. Since then the number of bariatric surgical procedures
performed in the United States has risen and currently
exceeds 200,000 annually. Most of the information we have
on the perioperative management of the morbidly obese
patient is based on experience with bariatric operations. This
review considers the postoperative management of the morbidly
obese patient. Most obese patients recover from anesthesia
and surgery in the PACU. Admission to an intensive
care unit is usually due to either severe underlying medical
conditions, and/or complex surgical procedures.
